What sets you apart from your competitors?  2. What is your growth strategy? As opposed to some of your surrounding Middle Eastern competitors, you have grown relatively slowly and have yet to purchase any large wide body aircraft - what sets you apart from them goal-wise and financially? Will we possibly see flights to the Americas and/or more destinations in Europe soon? 3. Your business class seats, both the old one and the new one, are industry leading. However, especially the new business class seat is quite the financial investment. How has this seat served you so far? Is the feedback as positive as one would think for such a great seat? What can you say about the service inconsistency between the leased 787s and your own as far as business class goes? 4. With the decline in oil prices, has Oman Air been negatively or positively affected? 5. Please explain your relationship with Emirates and other Arab carriers? To what extent do you collaborate vs. compete? Please also tell us about the Arab Air Carriers Organization and its drawbacks and benefits for Oman Air. What about Salam Air? 6. What is Oman Air doing to be sustainable?  7. Tell us about your job. What do you get to do on a day to day basis? Would you say you have a passion for aviation? 8. What do you enjoy most about working for an airline like Oman Air, and what are your biggest challenges?  I hope you enjoy this video. Please leave your thoughts in the comments! (20 Apr 2017) LEADIN: The president of Emirates says the airline remains committed to the US market despite plans to slash 20 percent of its flights. The decision follows tougher security and visa measures put in place under the Trump administration STORYLINE: The Middle East's largest airline is clipping its wings with regard to some flights into the United States. Emirates has announced it will cut 20 percent of its current flights to US cities. But the President of Emirates, Tim Clark says the airline has no intention of pulling out of the US market. "This is what I consider to be a temporary situation, I do not see this to be a paradigm shift in what we're doing with regards to the markets into the United States or out of the United States." Emirates said Wednesday it was cutting flights to five US cities and blamed the move on stiffer US security measures and attempts to ban travellers from some Muslim-majority nations since President Donald Trump took office. Dubai was one of 10 cities in Muslim-majority countries affected by a ban on laptops and other personal electronics in carry-on luggage aboard US-bound flights. The UAE carrier recently announced it will loan tablets and laptops to business and first class passengers flying to the United States. Clark says the airline has worked to mitigate the inconvenience caused to passengers by the ban. However he says the Trump administration made a decision based on what they perceived as a clear and present threat, and that Emirates will comply with the new rules. Clark declined to detail how much of a financial hit Emirates has taken over the past three months, but he described the reduction in passenger demand as "significant". The cuts will reduce the number of US-bound flights from Dubai to 101, down from 126 currently. Twice daily Emirates flights to Boston, Los Angles and Seattle will be reduced to once a day. Daily flights to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando will be pared down to five per week. Like its smaller Gulf rivals Qatar Airways and Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways, Emirates has ramped up its US presence in recent years and recently launched a new service to Newark via Athens. Several big US carriers have bristled at the Gulf airlines' US push, accusing them of flooding the market with capacity while receiving billions of dollars of unfair government subsidies. The Gulf airlines deny the allegations. "Well they would say that wouldn't they? And we've had two and a half years of this, and as we have grown our capacity, successfully introduced more cities successfully, and grown our profits successfully this constant tirade comes at us, and we're getting used to it now," says Clark. US airline executives made a personal pitch to Trump earlier this year to restrict Gulf carriers' access after failing to persuade the Obama administration to curb their expansion. Clark made a point to take a jab at United Airlines, which is part of a campaign opposing more US routes for Gulf carriers, over its handling of an overbooked passenger hauled from a flight. "And the United disgraceful episode was a classic case of how corporate culture has a, indicates that that particular company has lost the plot with regards to what it should be doing, basically the right thing, by their passengers," he says. The latest travel ban by the US suspended new visas for people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, and froze the nation's refugee program. Like an earlier ban that also included Iraqi citizens, it has been blocked from taking effect by the courts. In a parallel session titled "Banking on Customer Services: What Governments Can Learn from the Financial Sector" on the second day of the three-day Government Summit, Ala'a Eraiqat, CEO of UAE's Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, and Gary Flood, President of Global Products and Solutions for MasterCard Worldwide, said that governments can be run as efficiently as a bank -- and technology can serve as a platform to accomplish its purpose. The session was moderated by Nadine Hani Presenter, Al Arabiya, and the two executives shared their experience and insights in improving and delivering an efficient customer experience, thus addressing one of the key challenges for governments worldwide. Flood recalled that MasterCard started as a not-for-profit organisation before going through a series of transitions to prepare itself for the position it is in today. "I don't see why governments can't continue the transition it already started to make," Flood said, noting that for banks as well as for governments, it is important to understand the needs of their stakeholder and take an approach that is centred on those needs. read more: http://www.thegovernmentsummit.ae/en/media/banking-on-customer-services-what-governments-can-learn-from-the-financial-sector/
